Description
For ten thousand years, the annual caribou migrations passing thru vast valleys frequently attracting local residents, like this handsome moose. He's only come to witness the big event, as his ancestors have done for centuries. The original Lino Cut print was juried into shows in California, Moscow, Cyprus, the United Nations in New York City. Originals of a limited edition are at Stonington Gallery in Seattle.
The great migrations also attracted my Aleut family. Our hunters left temporary drawings like these on dirt walls or even in the dirt along a beach. These drawings informed others of the type of game taken, the condition of it's meat, and what type of feed the game was eating. The drawings weathered away by the next hunt. Like a text e-message.
