Catch Of The Day
Photograph - Photography
Ospreys, also known as fish hawks, sea hawks and fish eagles dine almost exclusively on live fish. Their talons are uniquely adapted for catching and carrying fish. They soar high above a body of water, and hover briefly before diving feet first to nab a fish. Once threatened by pesticides, populations of these hawks have rebounded since the banning of DDT. This particular bird has just caught a cutthroat trout and is preparing for a tasty fish dinner.
