My wife is a big southern rock fan and I enjoy it also. A few years ago we had the opportunity to see Charlie and friends at a Northern California resort called Konochti Harbor.
We had great seats about 10 rows back that also came with a pre-show dinner.
The show started out with The Outlaws. They played a fantastic set of what was basically their greatest hits including Hurry Sundown, Stick Around For Some Rock and Roll, (Ghost) Riders In the Sky, and finishing off the set with Green Grass and High Tides. That alone would have been worth the ticket.
Next came The Marshall Tucker Band. They played for a little over an hour. The hits kept a comin' with Fire On The Mountain, Heard It In A Love Song, Searchin' For a Rainbow, and finishing their set off with Can't You See.
Charlie came on and rocked the crowd. He had just turned 70 and played the fiddle and picked the guitar with the best of them. After about an hour and a half he took a small break and then came back with every guitar player that stepped foot on the stage that night. Each was able to take a couple of minutes to highlight their talent. 7 rocking guitars in all.
This image was taken right after the sun had set on the harbor leaving a nice glow in the sky for a backdrop.
