The ancient cherry tree towered above the rooftops in our yard, inviting children in the neighborhood to climb her and experience the sweetness of her blossoms, her fruit, and the vista view she provided. My memories of her always bring smiles. There was the time I climbed so high, only to get stuck and have to wait for my father to come and help me down! Her berries were plentiful, but small, but I absolutely loved everything about her just as she was. Once, to please my mother, who always wished for the fruit to be more sizable, I picked and pitted a large amount just to produce a single cherry pie for her.
We played tag around her trunk in the evening hours, and even the dogs joined in the fun.
