Chinese Bridge Wandiligong
Photograph - Photography
Wandiligong, near Bright in North Eastern Victoria, Australia is a village of less than 300 residents but was once home to approximately 3,000 during the Victorian Goldrush in the 1850's. A highlight of the area is the Chinese Swing Bridge which is a tribute to the large number of Chinese who lived in the Wandiligong area during its gold rush days.
The whole town is now registered with the National Trust as a classified landscape and features historical buildings such as the Manchester Unity public hall (built in 1874), the general store, several churches and a number of quaint cottages. Wandiligong is a photographer's delight in autumn when the many European trees that have been planted in the area are ablaze with color.
