Chinese boatman load pumpkins on a junk for a trip down the river. Photo taken in 1945 outside of Nanking by my father. Notice the laundry hanging on the neighboring junk.
This photograph was taken by my father while he was assigned to the American Embassy in Naking, China during World War II. He was the Assistant Naval Attacht the embassy. He had many local contacts and visited many areas of the country. I've attempted to preserve this image not only for the personal value but also the historic value.
