( Copyright Mel Steinhauer All Rights Reserved ) Belgium produces over 172,000 tons of chocolate each year, so you would expect to see a few chocolate shops. Someone said the best ones were in Brugge. Being a chocolate-lover from way back, I decided to go there instead of Brussels, where I probably would have had to go to large museums. This medieval city with canals and cobblestone streets has plenty of shops selling the world's best chocolate.
