I\'m not a christian, I more relate to Buddhism. However, due to personal circumstances I have suffered a lot for whom I am and I explored this in christs crucifixion. I have a good friend whom I speak to all the time-he gave me his opinion on this particular piece: I think he is very intuitive although it was from his perspective. I believe in love. Please read on, and share if you will. Thanks, Richard.
Christ Consciousness-An Art Review by Brad Austen
For me personally, Richard Mc Leans art piece entitled Christ Consciousness has a great deal of symbolic meaning. The title of the piece, Christ Consciousness isnt so much a religious term in this context, but more of a spiritual term. It refers to the archetype energy of the Christ, which is expressing unconditional love despite experiencing the weight of the world. There are moments in most peoples life where they may feel burdened by societies values and morals. When I look at this artwork, I get the impression that Richard is expressing his darkness, but also aware of the light at the end of the tunnel The return of the Christ is simply the return of the Christ consciousness on the planet. Jesus Christ simply planted the Christ Consciousness seed. This seed is beginning to germinate in the hearts and minds of many people, there is a gradual spiritual awakening occurring on the planet.
In Richards drawing, there are dark clouds brewing in the background, there is a sense of movement and uncertainty in the air. This piece is executed loosely in black and white, which for me, gives a more powerful and sometimes darker statement. The central image is a drawing of a power pole with a man (Jesus) crucified on it. This gives the impression that Richard is feeling burdened and somewhat crucified by modern technology and way of life. At the bottom right of the drawing there is an old discarded television set. To me this also speaks about technology and our throw away society. We live in a society that has a throw away mentality, we want the latest and greatest of everything. We want the big screen TV, a fast or more luxurious car, but where is this leading us? The Christ Consciousness in some ways has been forgotten. We have sought external gratification, instead of looking within for our happiness. While the spark of our soul may have diminished, it never was distinguished completely during the dark night of our soul.
In a nutshell, Richards art piece entitled the Christ Consciousness has a lot of symbolic meaning. When you look beyond the surface you begin to feel and sense a greater message. For me personally, this message is one of struggle and hope. When we overcome our shadow side and struggles, we become a wiser and more balanced person. For the empaths and sensitives of this world, it can be a dark and turbulent place at times. When you feel more, you love more, but also hurt more intensely. Ultimately this piece is a reflection of Richards personal journey in life, but also expresses a great deal of insight about modern society and way of life. Despite our technology and our reliance on external things, the seed of our Christ consciousness is still alive and well.
