Description
This AP print is a part of a triptych in which 'Square' & 'Triangle' complete as 'Harmony of Nature'. The idea behind this triptych is humble desire to express the artist's vision of harmony and interconnection between human perception and nature. The basic shapes of nature can be found in three basic categories: circle, square & triangle.
Circles can be demonstrated through the planet, atoms & the wheel. Square is the basic structure of minerals & solid elements in their natural states. Triangle is found structurally in the key element we call water and therefore an essential structure to sustain life. Each shape carries certain properties corresponding to certain laws of physics. However, in daily life we don't view or think about the properties of the matter that surrounds us.
The musical staff represents the harmonic coexistence of each shape in nature.
The print process consists of:
- making a relief plate with the manual collection, preservation & drying of portions of plant life
- mounting them to a cardboard base that represents of the full image
- manual color selection for each object in the image
- repeating the process three (3) more times
Each print is highly unique in part to the fragile nature of the natural materials used and the pressure of the print process. Once a print is completed it takes with it its unique appearance and cannot be identically reproduced through the printmaking process but can be mimicked through digital reproduction.
The goal of this artist is to get the viewer's attention to aspects of life & knowledge that is overlooked in the daily routine as well as to stimulate minds to ask questions and to create a higher awareness of surroundings.
