I am wondering how and why you decided to do the background the way you did. Did you have it in mind as you planned the painting in your mind, did it develop as an idea as you were painting other areas, or was it an experiment or something else. I like learning how other artists make the decisions they do. Provides grist for the old artistic mind mill!

Fontaine, My model was standing in the sunlight in front of the garage which had a very dark interior. The hard part was allowing the painting to have white corners, all different sizes - there is a name for that style.... I have forgot. I was just experimenting at this point. I added burnt sienna to repeat a warmer color because it needed it.

Maybe 4 years ago, Dad had over 100 bikes tuned up and displayed on his yard. It is so rare that one can capture a moment like this that has significence, to be honest and simple in the treatment, and then even pull off a proper painting. I wish you well in catching your family unaware, doing what they love.
