Civil War Shipwreck
Brian M Lumley
Photograph - Photography
The remains of the Oriental, a Federal troop transport, lies off the Outer Banks in the so-called "Graveyard of the Atlantic." Although only 600 feet from shore, well over 75% of the men aboard the ship perished as it ran aground over a sandbar during the American Civil War.
