At the most northerly tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, the paved road turns into a winding, gravel and dangerous narrow road with steep hills and very few guardrails.Stopping to take photos is done with caution and great respect for the sheer drop over the cliffs to the rocks below. A number of people have paid the price in death or serious injury At the end of the road is the tiny lobster and crab fishing village of Meat Cove, with spectacular views of the ocean. A large campground borders on some of the highest cliffs and although the views are marvelous, safety-first should always be on your mind. That being said, this is one of the most beautiful scenic places on an Island noted world-wide for it's scenery. In the distance you can see the hardwood trees coming into their full autumn color, as the inland area is all Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
