Description
Cloud to cloud lightning is the most common form of lightning. It usually involves electricity passing between the base of a cloud with a negative charge to a positive charge in the cloud's upper levels. It will often illuminate an entire cloud from within, with visibility exceeding over 100 miles at night on flat terrain. In this particular case the electricity passed between adjacent clouds, with the discharge occurring from the bottom of one cloud to the top of another. The bolt appeared to do a split in front of my lens. I prefer black and white as it tends to be more graphic and shows how the energy is being distributed.
