Description:

Child's Glacier is in south central Alaska. The Copper River, seen in the foreground, gets most of its water from glacial runoff, which is why it is so dirty. The Copper River undercuts the advancing Childs Glacier so it is an excellent place to see massive chunks of ice breaking off and crashing into the river. The falling ice chunks in these photos were several stories high.
