I checked out a few books on photography this week from the library. Two are by Eliot Porter. Porter's best images are wonderfully quiet and unassuming, intimate portraits of nature. They speak to my meditative mind, though sometimes they do fall into such a lull as to be boring to my young eyes. One thing he has taught me is to look closely. The other is to arrange seemingly random patterns neatly so that they are pleasing to the eye. Both lessons are employed here.
