Description
False-colour transmission electron micrograph of a yeast cell. The large red area at lower left is the cell's nucleus. The green shapes are mitochondria, the organelles which produce energy within the cell. The rounded blue structure immediately above and to the right of the nucleus is a lipid body. Lipids consist of glycerol and fatty acids and serve as reservoirs for potential chemical energy. The blue structure just to the upper left of the nucleus is a vacuole. Magnification x10,000 at 6x4.5cm size.
