Painting - Plein Air Watercolor On Arches Paper
I painted this picture outdoors during the 2011 Plein Air Artist Retreat. This is the view from Gregg Caudellís front porch, which faces directly east into this solid wall of granite known as Coyote Mountain. The rock of the mountain is a dark purplish grey with very little soil at all on its surface. It rises hundreds of feet straight up out of the San Poil River valley. Gregg told me that he has seen an old escaped domestic goat with horns that spanned at least ten feet on that mountain. He said he glimpsed him once while climbing the moutain. Gregg said he smelled the goat before he saw it. I had goats and I believe him.
