Cabin in the Woods - the movie by Joss Whedon was a blast. Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods.

Part of my series of studies for book covers for the publishing industry. Nearly 1,000,000 (one million) new books are published each year with the average book selling about 3,000 copies over its lifetime. But these odds don't deter new authors from releasing new books each year with the most popular genres being Mystery, Thriller and Crime.
....
The second most popular book genre was Science Fiction with 26% of readers buying Sci Fi books, ‘Literature’ was close on its heels with 24% and Romance is worthy of a mention with 21% of the market.
.....
With more and more baby boomers reaching retirement age there is bound to be a boom in the publishing market as more and more leisure hours need to be filled with some form of entertainment.
.....
These retirees also have at their disposal the easiest and cheapest methods of self-publishing of all time. It is said that everyone has a book inside them, and we are already seeing an explosion of self published memoirs as well as fiction titles.
.....
Self-published authors don't have the luxury of a publishing house to push their book to reviewers, radio stations and bookstores. They don't have an established name, fan base or pipeline that will push their book to the New York Times bestseller list. The next 50 of Shades of Gray breakout bestseller? Ain't going to happen if people don't first discover the book. This is where the book cover comes in and is such an important part of book marketing. A strong visual is what's going to stop someone as they browse through the online virtual racks looking for something good to read.
.....
The publishing industry has always invested in top notch talent to design book covers and fretted over small differences in the various designs brought to them by in-house and freelance designers. They'll even put a new design on an old book when they reissue it.
.....
This became apparent to me when my aunt hear that I was designing book covers. She offer that she had once met a woman at a craft show who designed the cover for "The Firm". Of course I had to go online and Google "The Firm" to see what this great cover design looked like - low and behold about 15 different versions of the book showed up, each with a "fresh" new cover!
.....
Self-published books have even more at stake with their cover design as it might just be the ONLY marketing visual the author ever has for their book. They need to stop those crucial first readers who may start a word of mouth campaign on the books behalf if they like it. Of course its up to the author to follow up on an exciting cover design with equally exciting text! My book designs are Rights Managed artwork represented by Arc Angel Images. Prints are also available via Fine Art America.
