Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
This is a plein air sketch/painting in acrylic of an old abandoned forgotten orange grove on Merritt Island. It hasn't been tended in many years. I love the gnarly old trees. Many of them are covered with Spanish moss and air plants. It has filled with weeds. Various scrub palms and cabbage palms have sprouted on their own throughout the scene. These are typical to the area.
It was a breezy afternoon and the clouds kept moving on by. This spot is just a couple miles from my home and is right off the road. I am fairly certain that this is likely to be developed some day as it is right near several stores and businesses. It was pleasant, as always, to just be out in the fresh air capturing the day. I liked that there were some fall-like colors, which is something that we don't see to much around here. Things generally look like spring or summer in this area, year round. We are in a sub-tropical climate and just don't get more than a few hours of winter most years.
