Description
Cuscus skeleton. Partial skeleton of a cuscus (Phalanger sp.): pelvic girdle and part of the spine. This arboreal marsupial inhabits the forests of New Guinea and the extreme north of Australia. It is primarily nocturnal, and moves slowly and clumsily around in the trees. It has a prehensile tail, which helps it as it clambers around. It mainly eats leaves, but occasionally catches small animals.
