Thank You, Ana! for you it,s easy to understand (and I mean as a philosopher as well as a Romanian). Desteptu de fiu-meu mai mare, care are acelasi nume ca mine dar cu Lucian in plus a inceput acum cativa ani sa-mi foloseasca numele de nastere, Dan Iordache... Si cum familia, incepand cu soacra-mea, taranca din Ardeal, imi spunea Danu (diminutiv, Danu lu Iordache...etc) mi-a venit ideea de mai sus...e numele pe care mi l-am ALES IO si nu cel hotarat pt mine de soarta... Multumesc pt comentariu si atentie! Numai bine tie si alor tai!

Cum stii foarte bine, Ana, lucram cu povesti, cu legende, cu fictiuni... Uneori ni le spunem singuri, povestile, ca sa ne mai incurajam, sa mai uitam de facturi, de boli si necazuri... Iar, noi, romanii, mai luam si la misto, ca sa folosesc o expresie golaneasca... Facem haz de necaz, supravietuim, deh...

Thank you very much, Sharon! To me too it was shocking to see how many coincidences and "threads" linked me Da-nu, to DA-da... Do you know the anecdote about the name Da-da? One of the legends, urban myths etc, says that the name Dada comes from Lenin (yes! bolchevik Lenin! ) who assisted at the first represantations Dada at that Café Voltaire in Zurich (was it?) and was so enchanted by the show that he aplauded and shouted repeteadly Da! Da! (in russian Da is also kind of Yes, Yes!)... Si non e vero e ben trovato!

Dada movement was born exactly 50 years before DANU was born! and one of the main founders was Tristan Tzare, one of my compatriots! Glad you like it, thanks!

Painted on w/c paper with Acrylics and Acrylic inks, this painting has quite a story (and quite a story to tell). It is inspired by a famous Giorgio de Chirico self-portrait, also called The Brain of the Child (Le Cerveau de l'Enfant - representing a moustachoed de Chirico with both of his EYES CLOSED in a "metaphysical" landscape), painting that was emblematic for the Surrealists (Yves Tanguy, Magritte and others say they own their surrealist vocation to this painting which was owned by Andr� Breton, le "Pape" du surrealisme). I represented myself ONE EYE OPEN, ONE EYE CLOSED, with some supplementary quirks and quarks, here and there, and wrote on the table the story of Dada movement (founded 40 years on the dot before my birth, the same day by one of my countrymen, the poet Tristan Tzara) and also some of my own history, the way I choose my artist name of Danu (in Romanian, dada means YesYes; Danu means Yes-No, like the Yang-Yin concept). Lots and lots of faithful coincidences that can be (are!) the foundation of my personal history as an artist.
