Damp Cracker Foal
Photograph - Photographic Image
Two week old Cracker foal is still damp from swimming in the nearby marsh. The Florida Cracker is a smaller, gaited breed known for its agility and speed. Bred from Spanish Colonial horses to herd cattle, their numbers decreased to dangerously low levels in the 20th century prompting the State of Florida and several private breeders to establish breeding herds on Payne's Prairie and other public lands.
