Description
Abstract art can be beautiful, colorful and exciting, but there is a large group of people who cannot appreciate those attributes. For all the techies in the world, computer nerds, engineers, scientists, accountants and such, they must know: "What is that? What's it supposed to be? I don't get it! this group of paintings is for them. All the works in this gallery began life as a technical photograph. Some are photos from space of the cosmos; some are from the LANDSAT satellite taking pictures of the earth and others are from peering through an electron microscope. All these photos were then interpreted as watercolor or oil paintings so now you know exactly what you're looking at. A whole new world opens up!
This abstract painting was derived from a LANDSAT satellite image of a region in Iran. Dasht-e Kevir or the Great Salt Desert is a primarily uninhabited wasteland composed of mud and salt marshes covered with crusts of salt that protect the meager moisture from completely evaporating. While the arid climate provides little rainfall or snow, runoff from the surrounding mountains creates seasonal lakes and marshes.
