Description
Oregon, northeast-central, Interior of Dee Wright Observatory. The Civilian Conservation Corps took advantage of local materials and built this open structure. Most agree that construction took place in 1935. A peak finder on top with the date 1937 indicates when the finder was added. Each arch shape viewing hole or window in the interior allows viewing of a particular mountain peak. There are other smaller what I can only describe as peepholes, that also point towards peaks. Bronze plaques embedded next to the windows and holes explain what you're looking at. A paved trail leads up this structure that looks as if it grew out of the stone. Some would call it gothic in appearance. Regardless, its an impressive work reflecting construction ingenuity. Professional nature and landscape photography designed for wall art.
