Description:
This piece is from my Abstract/Fractal series. As the title suggests, yes this is inspired by March 6th 1836. Growing up in the 50's, well what can I say, the Davy Crockett popularity hit me hard when I was 4 or 5, even had my "coon skin cap". Later I did learn the actual history involved in that pivotal day in history and this painting tries to reflect my impressions of that morning. The " Deguello" is the song (the cut throat song) that was played at the siege of the Alamo.
Anyway I will say that i discovered Fractals about 10 years ago. For the backgrounds I use scans of various art that I make from scratch. I will do watercolor, and then add pastel or even oil or pretty much anything to get the effect I want, then, I can work with it to achieve the effect that I want. This process can take several months and I have several "backgrounds" in the works at all times. Then I build these up to the finished art. The process is very time intensive, but I think the overall effect is worth it.
