You're creativity is off the charts, as is your skill. And who's that handsome model? :-)

I love this painting though it makes me fearful...something around the corner I'm not going to like.

As well you should be, Jennifer...even I find it disturbing! Thank you very much for leaving a most generous note in praise of my work (in-progress!).

i shall hold my breath until you post this painting in its entirety, patrick. don't make me blue!

Will do, Marlene! What I've yet to reveal is the portrait of Mary - actually the schoolteacher in this re-imagining - who is wearing the mask of the black sheep and holds a delicate orbicle in her arms.

Description

Long ago in a time of Arcadian daze - those brooding and blissfully, halcyon days - just ‘round the bend from where zoetropes play, lived a girl by the name of MaryAnna.

In her charge a little lambkin black was put, as black as the black of a bucket of soot; it would follow her ‘round and was oft underfoot, and she gave it the name, Thaliana.

One blustery day in the middle of May, it followed the girl to school and away, from home it strayed, to Mary’s dismay, for the black sheep knew she might fall prey to the guile of a peckish Coyote.

Come mid-morning the children went outside for sport, they fancied the sheepling with whom to cavort, but with Marion Anna it likened to court, so they made up a game they called Fiddlesticks.

Though they left it behind the lamb did tarry, alone in the yard as it waited for Mary; but there’s nowhere to hide when you’re so far from home, on your own, in the shadow of Coyote.

‘Twas the teacher for whom he pretended to fall, professing his love in a telephone call, feigning concern for the kids in the hall, so as to abscond with the lamb.

Now, in order to foil this dastardly sot, Miss Edmund would need a masterly plot…
