What an experience for you and your group to witness - It is a Beautiful Image and one that has stayed with me.

The scene was surreal. Bells rang as the priest skewered his cheeks...no blood, just a single tear. This all led to a lengthy discussion with my group, which was an educational tour. At the very least I learned to be careful what I ask for...

The Hindu temple is famous for self-mortification and I asked whether my group would have an opportunity to see it. I was told that for a small fee it was possible. I expected an old man who fancied himself a human pin cushion, not a 12 year old!
