Description
Dinner? Is a photograph of three of the five feral, part mountain cat, kittens that I reared. The mountain cat came into the garden once when I was looking out through the kitchen window. I had left some food on the wall for the kittens and he was happily helping himself to it until he spotted me watching him when he froze and stared hard at me before high-tailing it out as fast as he could go! He had the hooded eyes that are beginning to be apparent in this picture in the kittens but he was much larger than the their mother and he had a white tip to his tail. I believe that the Spanish hunters call these mountain cats Rabbo which means very fierce. The whole tribe of them were very scared of the Mountain cat and would rapidly disappear up onto the roof of my fathers house when they thought that he was around. The kitten on the right is Little Sophie from a previous post, only in this photograph she is a little larger. The ginger sitting on the left is Maximilian, otherwise known as Max. He is a great character and very confident and affectionate. The black tabby in the centre is Sheba, as in Queen of, due to her slightly superior stance. She is more independent and a great hunter but also very affectionate. Orlando, as seen in a previous post, adores her and they have a great time chasing each other around the garden. The two that are not in the photograph are both tabbies, only one is a male and very large. His name is Montgomery or Monty and he is the alpha of the group and will strive to protect the others if an interloper arrives in their territory. The little female tabby is called Sacha and is very timid and follows her big brother around like a shadow even though he bosses her around rather a lot. It is astonishing how very individual this little group of siblings are. Each with their own very distinct personality as well as colouring. They are endlessly fascinating.
