Discovery of Nat Turner (1800-1831), by Benjamin Phipps on October 30, 1831. Turner has eluded capturefor two months, when he was discovered hiding in a cave. He was convicted of murder on November 5, 1831, and hanged six days later in Jerusalem, Virginia. Afterward, in gruesome vengeance, his body parts were kept by whites as souvenirs.
