Description:

Green Tara, the spiritual daughter of Amitabha, is the principal female manifestation of enlightenment in the Buddhist tradition. Her emerald green color-related to the wind element and hence to movement- signifies that Tara is the active principle of compassion, capable of bringing to fruition all activities, mundane or supramundane, that bring benefit to others. She is often referred to as the "One Who Rescues from the Eight Great Fears." These eight are traditionally listed as the fear of lions (pride), elephants (ignorance), fire (anger), snakes (envy), robbers (wrong views), imprisonment/avarice (chains), water (flood) and demons (doubt). - Jonathan Landaw and Andy Weber
