Painting - Oil On Canvas
"Doc" is an original oil painting of "Doc" Roberts doing the lunch-making duties during a Quail hunt, while our two English Setters look on with much anticipation. I've known Doc all my life as he's the father of my childhood friend, Fred. Doc, a died-in-the-wool grouse hunter, was easily convinced to come try his luck at Quail hunting in Southern Indiana. It was a banner day, and as I recall, we put up 5 or 6 coveys with a dozen or so in the bag. The English Setters are actually cousins from the same kennel in Michigan. That's "Fred" on the left (named after my friend Fred and Doc's son) and Mate on the right. Doc, the father of 6 kids is a wonderful man, so full of love, life and always kind words; it was a joy to paint this thinking about that day. One of my personal favorites....I hope you enjoy it too.
Original - 16" x 20" oil on stretched canvas (not for sale)
