Description
There was something about this doorway in Merida, Mexico, that really spoke to me. It had so many elements I love from architectural details to true grit and texture. There's such a feeling of past elegance here. Look at the fluted columns and the moldings in the door's arch. Even the wrought iron is packed with elegance.
But then one starts to see the peeling paint and all the signs of wear. Even the city garbage cans placed so haphazardly close to the entrance. And it just has that feeling of opulence that has been brought down a notch or two. Where did this door once go? Is the home on the other side neat and tidy or does it have that same feel of a fall from grace?
I think that's half the fun of doors sometimes. Looking at them and trying to imagine the world that lies on the other side. Do you do the same?
