Dr And Mrs King
Photograph - Black And White Photo
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife Coretta pose for a photo in 1964. Dr. King played a prominent (arguably the most prominent) role in America's passing of civil rights legislation guaranteeing the same rights and opportunities for Americans of all races. His nonviolent protests earned him great respect and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He was tragically assassinated in 1968 but his legacy endures through many tributes around the world and a United States federal holiday in his name. Mrs. King carried on her husband's legacy after his death through her continued call to end discrimination against African Americans, women and those who are LGBT.
