The idea for this painting was developed by staring at a blank canvas hanging on my wall and imagining what it should look like. Several early sketches were produced to define the concept and composition. The canvas was never completed in paint. Several years later the water, reeds, grass and gazebo were modeled in 3D and rendered over a scanned copy of the original painting. You can tell which parts were refined and further developed by comparing the printed piece to the original canvas.
