Those were the good old days. Remember hanging out at the local drive- in with your steady? Carhops, the jukebox playing, delicious burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes ( all before we knew the effects of fast food and had to give it up) Yes, those really were the good old days! This nostalgic photograph brings those feelings and wonderful memories back .
The first drive-in restaurant was Kirby's Pig Stand in Dallas Texas, opening in 1921. In North America drive-ins have become lerss popular since their heyday in the 50's and 60's. The drive-in is featured as a 50's symbol in many movies such as American Graffiti and it was a main location in the t.v. show Happy Days. In 1964, the Beach Boys had a song titled "Drive-In" on their All Summer Long album.
Some drive-in are still around today, such as the Varsity in Atlanta, Georgia. It has been in business since the original opened in 1928.
