Description:

My past and present is reflected in this painting. When I was a kid, I spent many summers fishing trout in little brooks just like this and 40 years later, I’m still doing it. I have included an eagle and it’s personal. Fortunately, they are very common in my area of the world and are always on the lookout for an easy supper. The specific bird in this painting though very small and somewhat insignificant, was created from a photo I took of a very sad, pathetic looking creature I encountered at a zoo. Apparently, some jerk shot it. It did survive but was sentenced to life in a 20 x 20 wire cage, never to fly again. It broke my heart. I hate going to zoos. In this painting, I pretend to heal his wounds, somewhat softened mine but most important, set his image free.
Of course this is just my wish and I didn't really help this poor bird. However through past and future donations of my limited edition art prints to specific organizations dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, I hope to maybe make a difference in some poor animal or bird’s life.
