One of my favorite past times is photographing the Great American Bald Eagle which during the winter months in Northern Maine they are in abundance in certain areas I have discovered. The beauty of this bird always amaze me and I try to photograph every aspect of them. During the winter the feathers become quite thick on this great bird which adds great vibrance to them.
This particular image is an HDR of 5 exposures processed in Photomatix. I use selective ghosting to isolate the movement of this Eagle to freeze one frame while merging the images. After achieving the desired look I then imported the image into photoshop and begin the remaining process. I created two textures for the background to give the moody feeling with the night stars glowing in the background. After many layers of touching up and manipulating certain parts I finally obtained the look and feel that made me Happy. Photography and digital processing by Gary Smith
