Patience usually will pay off when photographing the Great American Bald Eagle. It was quite cold this day, actually it was -22 and yes I carry a thermometer with me when I am standing out in the cold doing photography such as this one. I can usually keep myself fairly warm with all the layers of clothing I wear, but when you stand still quietly with the winding blowing it eventually gets to you!
How the Bald Eagles can survive the Frigid temperatures in Northern Maine is beyond me! I have found they are usually not that active when the temps fall below 0, but this particular day I found 7 Eagles nesting in this location and they were quite active which allowed me to take several hundred images of them.
Since the background was solid white and the sun was not even going to try to show itself for some lighting and to help keep me warm, I did some extra processing and texture work to bring out the beauty of these two Bald Eagles.
