This lovely white and red St. Brigid anemone has just opened! As time progresses this double anemone will develop into a loose ruffled blossom.
Spring comes early in coastal California. This anemone was captured in late February, but anemones started blooming here at the beginning of February.
This image was taken in natural light outdoors. A black card was used to isolate the flower. I was surprised to see that the card actually picked up color from the surroundings resulting in the unique background colors that you see. No texture layers were applied!
