Description:
This is a combination of casting and fabricating. The scarab beattle was not made by me, it was only casted by me and I chose standard sterling silver casting grains for it. It had a ring already for it, but I mixed up old and new sterling silver for casting, the years difference is about 20 years and over time, the alloy of silver can change and not mix well. I manage to save the scarab and most of the ring did not work, it had holes in it as it it was broken or dropped. Only one side of the scarab on the bottom had wings, so I cut off the odd wing to make it look even.
I had other intentions for the the pattern wire band which is fine .999 sterling silver. I ended up fabricating the scarab onto the wire pattern and it came out wonderful. I had to solder it upside down to keep it even. Fine silver is rather annoying, it doesn't really melt, but it gets super soft when it gets hot.
The ring will be for sale after I make a successful mold of the egyptian scarab. It's a limited edition from a collection I recieved through family.
This is a size 8 ring and the scarab is 1 and 1/'2 mm long.
The ring can be fabricated to any desired size. It will take approx 1 week to cast, clean up, and fabricate the ring to fit, this does not include shipping days. Casting is done on weds.
