Description:

Little Eight Belles was a little filly, small and fast, big heart and her brilliant fight, ended in the worst of all possible ways breaking both of her ankles, with no other choice, she was euthanized by injection. The gallant little filly finished second in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday 2 May. She crossed the wire just behind the favourite. She raced against 19 colts, the only filly and this should not have been allowed. It was the second-largest crowd in Kentucky Derby history. This painting is dedicated to her memory
