NGC 1275, also known as Perseus A, is a large elliptical galaxy with an active supermassive black hole at its center which spews plasma jets and filaments over 20,000 light years into the dust and gas surrounding the Perseus Galaxy Cluster (Abell 426). A large spiral galaxy lies directly in our line of sight and is on a collision course with the ellipical galaxy.
