This painting sold to a woman of Lakota heritage, which made me feel very honored. The oil is based on several researched photographs made around 1900-1910 of the Blackfeet (Piegan) tipis by Edward Curtis. I am enthralled with the spirituality, history , dress and character of the Native American and their undeniable interconnectedness with the natural world for physical and spiritual sustenance. As a painter I focused on light and color that would express an emotive lure to this work.
