Epilepsy, conceptual computer artwork. Bolts of lightning inside a human head, representing an epileptic attack (seizure). Epilepsy is an abnormal, chaotic electrical activity in the brain. It can result in seizures, hallucinations or emotional outbursts depending upon the brain area affected. In some cases, a stimulus, such as flashing lights, can trigger a seizure. Epilepsy is thought to be caused by disease or injury, and may also be inherited. There is no cure, but anticonvulsant drugs may control or limit seizures.
