"Abide With Me"
Abide with me fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.
"Abide with Me" is a Christian hymn by Scottish Anglican Henry Francis Lyte, most often sung to English composer William Henry Monk's tune "Eventide."
Thank you, Wikipedia for that info.
One of my favorite hymns ... always tears me up. Such melodic beauty. I imagine it was sung in this lovely little church many times while its congregation still attended. Weddings and funerals, baptisms, Easter morning services and Christmas Eve services ... I'm sure it saw them all.
I drove past recently and the church now serves as an interior design studio. I'm glad it found a new life.
photographic image of this lovely country church located in Howard County, Maryland was taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200vr Nikon lens in October of 2009. Image enhanced in Photomatix Pro and Photoshop CS6.
