Description
I was inspired to create this abstract-realism series of paintings (two 6" x 12" gallery wrapped canvases) after watching a movie called "Patch Adams".
I've always been fascinated with butterflies... they are so very pretty. What really amazes me the most is their metamorphosis from this little crawly thing to a fragile, fluttering display of sheer beauty.
In Wikipedia, it says "...according to some sources, *the butterfly* was once seen in Japan as *the personification of a person's soul; whether they be living, dying, or already dead*. In Chinese culture, two butterflies flying together symbolize love. In some old cultures, butterflies also symbolize rebirth after being inside a cocoon for a period of time. Culturally, butterflies are a popular motif in the visual and literary arts."
This is a painting made with fluid and heavy body acrylics, watercolor, acrylic dyes, and ink on 6" x 12" gallery wrapped canvas.
