I was reaching for a calm, somber and bittersweet mood with this one. As though it was 11 November 1918, and he, after witnessing the unforgiving brutality of The Great War, was finally able to return home. All the while, and perhaps throughout the rest of his life, wondered why he was still alive when millions died. This man may have gone on to have a good life, a quiet life….a happy life. There is hope for all us Soldiers. If anything it is reinforced time and time again not to waste this life… this one chance.
