Description:

Native Elephant culture is tight knit and matriarchal. In Family Tree the curved shapes of the elephant bodies are mirrored in the curved hills and restorative pool of water. Tree branches mirror trunks and crescent moon and tusk shapes are repeated in the 7 leaves of the tree--the biblical number of perfection and rest. This piece was created in support of a group wanting to transfer elephants from a cramped zoo to a spacious sanctuary.
