Description:

This sanctuary with academic and administrative buildings at the local Ursuline Academy with rock doves and pidgeons circling above, reminded me of the grand cathedral in the children's film, Walt Disney's "Mary Poppins", when the bag-lady below on the cathedral steps sings, "Feed the birds, tuppence a bag." The doves and pidgeons above were particularly interesting -- they disappear suddenly after about 8 am each morning but you can still hear them warbling or cooing up there somewhere. Original painting is in watercolor, 21" x 29", painted on location during summers of 2011 and 2012, on Arches 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper. The white statue at right is of St. Joseph. I introduced the student girls at left and the nun in habit, center, as how they may have looked fifty years ago, when school here was still in session. The buildings with windows open to the elements and roof in disrepair are as they look today. This original painting is for sale unframed, $3900.
