Description
This fractal abstract portrays in stylistic fashion a stand of forest ferns, marvels of photosynthetic efficiency in the fictional fractal fern forests of this class M planet (Reigel-4) circling a red dwarf sun. Almost as invasive as kudzu vines on planet earth, these 30-meter tall forests occupy 70% of the land surface of this world.
The plant's photosynthetic machinery has been fine-tuned over millions of years to accommodate the weaker intensity of the red dwarf sun's rays through the thick CO2-rich atmosphere that envelops the planet. The resulting surface-warming greenhouse effect has saved the life on this world located just slightly outside the "Goldilocks Zone" of planetary habitability. Water is water here and not ice, and the atmospheric oxygen content from these prolific oxygen-producing forests sustains oxidative metabolism for indigenous animal life. The surface area of the ferns in the billions of hectares of fern forests is astronomical and responsible for the lion's share of CO2 fixation and oxygen production on a planetary level.
Okay...it is a fractal abstract after all, but these fractal fiction tales are like catnip for those with runaway imagination. This fractal art piece will be enjoyed by kids and adults alike, and will look good at home or in the office.
